Dr. Nicholas N. Bland, originally from Aiken, SC, graduated with a BS in Chemistry from North Georgia College & State University before attending dental school at Tufts University. After joining the U.S. Army as a dentist, Dr. Bland volunteered to lead Children’s Dental Health Month and educate over 1,400 children on proper oral hygiene techniques, inspiring him to pursue a career in pediatric dentistry.
As Brigade Dental Surgeon for the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, and later the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Dr. Bland served for over four years before completing two years of specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry with New York University-Langone Dental Medicine in Central Arizona. There, he was chosen as Chief Resident by attending faculty in his final year of residency.
Following his residency, Dr. Bland returned to North Carolina and worked in an underserved area, where he gained extensive training in sedation dentistry and providing treatment under general anesthesia. Known to his patients as the dentist who plays guitar, Dr. Bland shares his passion for music with every child who visits him for an exam.
Dr. Bland’s philosophy regarding pediatric dentistry is to help children overcome their fear and anxiety towards dental visits, allowing them to reach adulthood with a positive outlook on dental care. In his free time, Dr. Bland enjoys spending time with his five children, family and friends, playing music, and staying physically fit. He is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and holds the rank of Major in the United States Army Reserves. Feel free to give Dr. Nicholas Bland DMD a call anytime for a consultation.

Originating from Farmington, New Mexico, Dr. M Todd Christensen’s formative years unfolded in Mesa, Arizona, nurtured by the influence of two exceptional parents. Amidst a vibrant family of 10 siblings, he cherished his upbringing in the tranquil environs of north Mesa, a once quaint enclave bordered by citrus orchards, cotton expanses, and fertile fields. Graduating from Westwood High School in the late 1980s, he subsequently embarked on a spiritual mission that led him to the picturesque landscapes of Peru for two transformative years.
Upon his return to Arizona, Dr. Christensen orchestrated a heartwarming reunion with his sixth-grade infatuation, Cheryl, successfully persuading her to be his life partner. The culmination of their journey transpired in a Mesa wedding in 1990. Driven by his aspirations, he initiated his academic voyage at Scottsdale Community College before traversing to the University of Utah, where he attained a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Biology. His pursuit of knowledge then propelled him across the nation to the University of Connecticut on the East Coast, where he achieved his dental degree in 2000.
With the company of his three young children, the Christensen family embarked on a westward journey to Southern California’s Loma Linda University, where they devoted two years to an intensive residency in Dental Anesthesiology, concluding in 2002. Over the ensuing two decades, Dr. Christensen specialized in providing in-office anesthesia services to pediatric dentists and their youthful clientele throughout Arizona. Alongside this, his involvement in pediatric dentistry grew, culminating in his transition away from anesthesia care in July 2022.
Dr. Christensen’s anesthesia experience sparked a deep fascination with airway development in children, a burgeoning facet of dentistry he aims to delve into further. When not immersed in his professional pursuits, he gravitates towards outdoor escapades alongside his family and four grandchildren. Whether cycling, backpacking, camping, or embarking on mountain and beach expeditions, Dr. Christensen embraces adventure in every facet of his life.
Dr. Goetz grew up in a small rural town near Pittsburgh, PA. He fell in love with Arizona during his time at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine. He moved away from the Valley to pursue his dream of attending the University of Pittsburgh’s Dental Anesthesiology residency but has always looked forward to returning to Phoenix to work alongside some of his earliest mentors in anesthesia (Drs. Brownstein, Wall, and Phan). Of the three years he spent in Pittsburgh, he is most thankful for his time training at the world-renowned Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and the opportunity to treat medically complex special needs patients at the University’s Center for Patients with Special Needs. In his spare time, he enjoys volunteering at his alma mater to spread his love of anesthesia, continuing his lifelong love of fitness and the outdoors, and spending time with his new roommate/rescue dog, Maverick.
